Hi there,

I was wondering if Lenovo ThinkPad x230, will get BIOS update in which it will support 5G WWAN module?

Intel® XMM™ 8160 Powered Global 5G Module

And could this work? M.2 to Mini PCI Express Card

Any idea?

(ofc when it is available for purchase)

T410 unable to boot from usb drive

I messed up and my laptop is not able to start up properly. I decided to boot up from a usb and reinstall windows 7. However, my laptop shows the error message "remove disks or other media. Press any key to restart".

I have set the proper boot order but other than that the available options in my BIOS is more limited than what I’ve previously seen. For example, there is no option to set boot mode to legacy or uefi. The only available options in boot mode is ‘quick’ and ‘diagnostics’. There is no option to disable secure boot in security and no option to disable os optimized results in the restart section in the BIOS.

What do I do?  Thanks in advance for the help.

Effect of only putting the laptop on standby

I want to know if there are any sort of problems if I always put my laptop on sleep only instead of shutting it down for day to day usage.

Updating to new BIOS screwed things up (Legion Y520)

I was ignoring the constant bugging from Lenovo via popups to update the BIOS over the last  few months but finally gave in and decided to try it. I didn’t use the built-in app as that had problems launching the process, so I went to the website and downloaded the latest one. I took all the precautions necessary when flashing a BIOS. I saved all my work, backed up several of my more important files, connected it to a UPS, etc. Made sure I had the right model number for my PC (Legion Y520 15IKBN) too.

I downloaded the file and then began the process of installing it. After I came back from the restroom, I saw the Windows screen saying:

Your PC/Device needs to be repaired

The application or operating system couldn’t be loaded because a required file is missing or contains errors.

File: \Windowssystem32winload.efi

Error code: 0xc000000f

You’ll need to use recovery tools. If you don’t have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your PC administrator or PC/Device manufacturer.

Press Enter to try again

Press F1 to enter Recovery Environment

Press F8 for Startup Settings

Press Esc for UEFI Firmware Settings

So like **bleep**…? Did I just lose everything on my OS ? Is this due to the BIOS update being faulty? Do I have to reinstall Windows??

Please help with Lenovo Part Lookup!

Hi to all.

I want to buy another 8gb RAM module for my already shipped buy not here yet laptop.

With my serial number got in Lenovo Part lookup and found I have two options there: "As built" and "model".

My problem is that "As built" has double the results for the whole machine than "model" (35 vs 75) which I find counter intuitive.

In particlar, for RAM in "As built" it shows a Hynix and a Samsung (picture below) module.

But if I press on "model" only the Samsung one will appear.

My question is which exact module (brand / part) is installed in my specific laptop?

Thanks in advance!
